Now therefore, in order that every one in every single place could adopt and observe what has been delivered to them by the Holy Roman Church, Mother and Mistress of the other churches, it shall be unlawful henceforth and without end throughout the Christian world to sing or to learn Masses according to any formulation other than that of this Missal printed by Us; this ordinance to use to all churches and chapels, with or without care of souls, patriarchal, collegiate and parochial, be they secular or belonging to any religious Order whether of men (together with the army Orders) or of girls, wherein conventual Masses are or ought to be sung aloud in choir or learn privately based on the rites and customs of the Roman Church; to use furthermore even when the mentioned churches have been in any manner exempted, whether or not by indult of the Apostolic See, by customized, by privilege, or even by oath or Apostolic affirmation, or have their rights and schools assured to them in any other means in anyway; saving solely these during which the apply of saying Mass in another way was granted over two hundred years ago simultaneously with the Apostolic Sees institution and affirmation of the church, and people wherein there has prevailed an identical custom followed repeatedly for a interval of not less than 2 hundred years; by which circumstances We in no sensible rescind their prerogatives or customs aforesaid.
